Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County (HFHLC) is a local operating affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and a member in good standing with Habitat for Humanity of Michigan. HFHLC was established in 1989 by an ecumenical group of people who came together to build homes with the interest to reduce sub-standard housing in Lenawee County, Michigan. In 2006, the Habitat of Lenawee ReStore was opened and began to take donations and sell to the public to support the mission. In 2010, HFHLC changed from building new homes to rehabbing existing housing stock due to the abundance of foreclosed properties and the cost effectiveness to rehab versus build new. HFHLC serves the population of Lenawee County (over 100,000) in the cities of: Adrian, Addison, Blissfield, Britton, Cement City, Clayton, Clinton, Deerfield, Hudson, Manitou Beach-Devils Lake, Morenci, Onsted and Tecumseh. HFHLC has enabled 59 low-income families to become homeowners including 86 adults and 181 children.
