| Welcome to Habitat for Humanity |
 Founded in 1989 by a group of people who were interested in reducing substandard housing Lenawee County, our affiliate has since built 34 homes in this county. The Lenawee County HFH is a locally run affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. |

GOING GREEN

In May of 2009 Lenawee Co. Habitat for Humanity completed it's first Energy Star® Certified home at 416 Toledo St., Adrian.
Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County is seeking to rehabilitate foreclosed houses, we officially began work Saturday, Sept. 26 on a house at 1222 Sherman St. in Adrian. Not only will this be our first rehabilitated home but also our first Green and LEED Certified home. [What Is LEED?]
Students from the LISD TECH Center Residential Construction Class plan to replace the roof, windows, doors, kitchen, bathroom and other areas. They also will add as many energy efficient features as possible. Completion and an open house is set for May 14, 2010.
