Why Habitat Homeownership Matters
Habitat believes that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Our affordable mortgage program provides an opportunity for low and moderate income buyers to enjoy the stability and sense of community that homeownership brings. Before a Habitat homeowner moves into their property, we celebrate with a dedication ceremony. Below are the comments from some of our buyers at their dedication over the years.
“We are so excited to call this our first home. It feels good. To be a homeowner. Our family is envisioning their own spaces with pops of fresh color and designs thanks to the hands-on education learned throughout this program. Our son has a room to call his own which assuredly will be filled with laughter and joy. The kitchen is incredible with new appliances and ample room to prepare meals without stepping on each other. The basement is big enough to host the Olympics and do laundry.
The attic provides plenty of storage space for all the memories that will be created. The yard– we finally have a yard– is expansive enough for nature walks and planting a garden. The kids have the freedom to play and discover and that is amazing. Here, we can safely raise our family.
This means so much to us that we again want to thank each of you that had a hand, an hour, or a dollar in this very important part of our lives. We are excited to be partners with Habitat and appreciate that responsibility. We are home.”

“Brecken, Lathan and I are so very grateful for having the Habitat family, volunteers and supporters placed in this path in our lives. Being a part of the process and watching everything take shape has been such an incredible experience.
We had acquaintances and contacts transform into family and lifelong friends. Habitat for Humanity has built more than a house. It is a home, hope, and a better quality of life. We now have a sense stability, and are reclaiming the direction our lives will go for our future. We appreciate everyone was involved in helping us reach our dreams.”
“I know that I ask for a lot but really the only thing I want is a nice home for me and my family. Oh and I can’t forget the volunteers. Thanks so much for helping out with all the extra work we needed. We are so thankful.”

“I have been greatly blessed to work with Habitat. Every step, from the deconstruction and insulation, to drywall, to the cabinets that made the empty shell of the house into my home. This great process was so educational! I am very thankful to Habitat and the many volunteers here today who made this possible.”
We would like to thank everyone who made this possible. We are glad to be buying our first home with Habitat’s help. It will be a great home for the kids to grow up in.

I am beyond blessed to become a homeowner and have a home where my children and I can make memories. Getting the opportunity to volunteer with everyone at Habitat was a great experience. I gained confidence that I didn’t know I had, and the knowledge to become a homeowner.
I want to thank everyone for their patience with me and answering all my questions as I went through this process. Everyone at Habitat is so amazing and I love that you want to rebuild East Adrian, keep doing amazing things.

My family and I would like to give many thanks to all the volunteers and organizations that donated their time and knowledge into making this house a home for my children and myself.
We are so excited about this move; Khristyan and Kaydn can’t wait to have a big backyard to play soccer and football in.
I never thought I would be able to own my own home, but with this program at Habitat and all the organizations I am one step closer to achieving my dream.
We are truly thankful and blessed to be given this opportunity.

“We feel very blessed to have such an opportunity to work with Habitat for Humanity and finally seeing our dream of being homeowners come true. We feel blessed to have the chance to meet so many great people that donate their time and love to help so many families.
We would like to thank Habitat for Humanity and its affiliates, the LISD and the students who built a house and changed our lives, and most of all the Lord for allowing us to live each day and receive this blessing.”
